Music education program

Music

Bara’em Ghirass is a music program for children aged 6-16 years old. Together with Musicians Without Borders (www.musicianswithoutborders.org), the Ghirass Cultural Center offers 40 children music lessons twice a week. Each child receives choir, ensemble, and musical instrument lessons. During these lessons, the children learn how to play the oud, violin, and percussion, and how to work together to make music. The children also practice singing and breathing exercises. Alongside this, weekly sessions held by Ghirass’ social worker help the children focus on different social and emotional skills, and tackle issues such as bullying and self-expression.

In addition, Ghirass offers weekly sessions for the mothers of the music students. We organize sessions with our social worker and sessions led by a musician, to provide a safe space for mothers to express and communicate through music.
