With the participation of 29 players: Ghirass Cultural Center organizes the annual chess tournament for the year 2024

Ghirass Cultural Center – Bethlehem – Palestine- August 15, 2024- The annual chess tournament organized by the Ghirass Cultural Center concluded with the participation of 29 players. Among the participants, 26 were from the center, and 6 were from the Palingual Center. The event took place in the center’s hall.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mrs. Ibtisam Al-Zaghir, the director of the Ghirass cultural Center, who welcomed the players and their families, emphasizing the importance of chess for developing students’ skills. This was followed by a speech from the teacher and referee, Mr. Fadi Qassis, who welcomed and encouraged the participants, and announced the rules and regulations of the tournament, which was conducted according to the international Swiss pairing system with rapid play.

Michael Jarad secured first place, Jad Al-Shomali came in second, and Jad Salah took third place.

The award ceremony was attended by the Director of the Ghirass Cultural Center, Ibtisam Al-Zaghir, Mrs. Manal Al-Ayesa, the Program Director at the center, Mrs. Loren Muslim, the Director of Palingual Center, and Mr. Fadi Qassis, the chess coach.

Ghirass Cultural Center extends its gratitude to the referee, Mr. Fadi Qassis, and the player Dania Ajour for their efforts in officiating this tournament, which witnessed strong competition among the participants.
