Cultural Exchange programm

England 2007

Ghirass Cultural Center believes in cultural exchange and openness to other cultures. It aims to let the world know more about Palestinian heritage and identity. It also aims to reflect a picture of the challenges and realities of life under occupation and what this represents, such as, repression, suppression and the taking away of people’s freedom.

Ghirass Center’s first experience of cultural exchange was in 1998, between the Center and Bethlehem Link in England. The goal of this experience was to provide and enhance cultural exchange opportunities between Palestinian and foreign children, to exchange knowledge and to help all the children create their own ideas about the world. This helps them to be stronger and develops their life experiences.

The Center continued to visit Bethlehem Link to maintain the cultural exchange in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009, 2012, 2014.

The Center has worked with the same goal in Norway. A cultural exchange program has been established through communication with a social workers’ trade union in Norway. Several visits have been organized for children from the Center in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012.

In July 2000, a dance group from the Center visited France. The children took part in exhibitions and festivals that lasted a whole month.
